LRCE's efforts and achievements are based on the belief of "Helping
Teachers Help Children." Our success can be contributed to the wonderful
support and help we receive from the community. LRCE would like to extend our
appreciation to our 2006-2007 donors who support our programs. They enable us to
further our mission and grow beyond our dreams here at LRCE.

We need your help! Support the Louisiana Resource Center for
Educators’ educational programs through our Annual Giving Campaign. All
proceeds raised directly benefit LRCE’s multi-faceted programs: a multi-media
lending library, professional development and PRAXIS training, alternative
teacher certification, and distance learning. Join the team and support
educational programs for public, private, parochial and charter school teachers
and home school families.

There are more than 2,300 non-certified teachers in
Louisiana. Teach Louisiana Consortium (TLC) offers a fast
track alternative certification program to mid-career changers
who have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and a desire to give
back to their community. TLC helps to eliminate the high number
of PreK-12 non-certified teachers teaching the children of
Louisiana.
One hundred forty-one Practitioners have entered the classroom for the
2007-2008 school year. Since 2003, LRCE has licensed more than 340 highly
qualified public and nonpublic school teachers in 23 parishes throughout
Louisiana. The cost to certify a teacher through TLC is $5,500.

- The Practitioner pays $2,000
- The school system pays $1,000
- Leaving a $2,500 deficit
Invest in your community by making a difference.

Studies by the LSU Marketing Department document the average out-of-pocket
expenditure per teacher is more than $400 per year for basic supplies. The
library houses over 32,000 titles and provides resources to public, private,
parochial and charter school teachers and home-school families. Our online
catalog allows educators to have 24-hour access to the resources available in
the library.
The online
catalog
allows
educators to request items for delivery from the comfort of his or her home or
school. The latest videos, software, books, calculators, manipulatives, etc. are
available for borrowing. The library loans more than 60,000 items each year to
teachers across the state.

LRCE has assisted schools and libraries in gaining more than $72 million in
Federal Funding through E-Rate (Educational Rate) to help schools and libraries
build their technology infrastructure. Through E-Rate funding these entities are
able to purchase select equipment at a discounted rate. LRCE offers E-Rate First
Time Filers and Update Training to school technology coordinators and Vendor
Training to companies that are interested in learning the procedures to become
an E-Rate eligible vendor.
LRCE is also one of the pioneers in bringing distance education to Louisiana.
We train teachers and administrators on how to setup, operate and troubleshoot
videoconferencing equipment, as well as where to find grade level appropriate
virtual fieldtrips for the students. Most recently LRCE was granted a USDA grant
for $122,015 to help rural districts throughout the state acquire distance
learning equipment to be used for distance education.
