Bimonthly online magazine that provides environmental news, information and resources. Not specifically aimed at education, but a good source for up-to-date news that other sources may not provide. Requires a subscription to read back issues. Also a free monthly newsletter available.

Louisiana State Sites

Site that provides information on Louisiana`s coastal wetlands. Includes classroom activities for teachers, games and activities for children, articles and other resources.

This site includes links to general environmental sites as well as lists of resources for particular environmental issues including: Air Quality, Radiation Protection, Waste and Recycling, Hazardous Waste, and Water Quality. The site also includes puppet scripts that can be used to educate children in the classroom, or that children could perform.

Site includes general information on what wetlands are and their empact on the environment. Includes a list of resources for teachers and an additional reading list.

Description of the educational programs at the Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge and Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge. The page includes a related links page with other environmental and wildlife pages that can be of use to teachers and students.

Sites for Kids and Educators

Earthday Network is dedicated to promoting environmental awareness worldwide and creating a healthy planet. The K-12 educator`s network provides "resources that promote civic education, engagement, and responsibility, five editions of Environmental Jeopardy, monthly lesson plans conforming to state standards and tested by your fellow educators, ideas for celebrating Earth Day and engaging your students in local community issues, and access to a network of dedicated environmental educators."

Resource created by the NAAEE aimed at supporting K-12 environmental education. Resources aimed at students, teachers and other education professionals. Includes information on programs for students to participate in, lesson plans, classroom resources and much more.

Earth Day Canada`s environmental education program. Aimed at children, this site promotes ways children can take care of the environment. Games and activities for the children as well as resources for teachers and parents.

Designed to assist children, ages 6-9, learn about the earth`s environment and the role they can play in preserving it. Complimentary resources for teachers and parents as well.

The Earth Day Groceries Project is "an easy, cost-free environmental awareness project that teams up youth and grocers to spread the message of Earth Day." The program could be incorporated into the classroom or be performed school wide. The site includes some educational support.

Two different sites: one aimed at "children" and the other at "youths." Both provide age appropriate basic information about the environment as well as information about other resources and activities for children all over the world.

Site from Naturist David Suzuki with different challenges aimed at kids to help protect and preserve the environment. There are ten challenges that kids can do to help preserve the environment and there are different activites that support these challenges. There are resources for teachers and parents as well.

This site is geared toward students in grades 4-8. It is sponsered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, but most of the information can be used by any student, anywhere. Includes teachers` pages with activities for students and additional resources.

Animal conservation site created for students and teachers. Each field trip contains information on a type of animal and its environment. Information includes basic information, field reports from experts, research data, and a media gallery.

US Government Sites

Educational information on a variety of topics related to the environment for students and teachers. The site includes links to other resources for many different topics and resources for teachers and classroom activities. Student resources include games and a homework helper.

The education page from the EPA provides resources for students and teachers. The site is divided into four different sections: PreK-4th grade, 5th grade-8th grade, 9th grade-12th grade and Teachers. Resources include games, fact-sheets, lesson plans and more.

Site from the EPA designed just for children. The site focuses on climate change and includes interactive information, activities, and links to other resources. There is also a link for teachers that explains how the website can be used in the classroom.

This site created by the EPA`s San Francisco office is a fun way to teach children about recycling. Includes recommendations for teachers on how to incorporate the site into the classroom.

US Deparment of Energy`s website for children. Provides games and resources that educate children on energy. Topics include renewable energy, solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, alternative fuel and energy conservation tips.

The National Park Services website for kids provides information on nature and how children can help protect it. Children must sign up, at no cost, to be able to access the activities and webcams available on the site.

A science and education program that works in conjunction with NASA and NSF Earth System Science Projects that provides both teachers and students with an opportunity for research and study of the Earth`s environment. The site includes projects, activities and quizzes for students as well as resources for teachers.

The National Institutes of Health Department of Health & Human Services page aimed at children. Contains Environmental Health education information and resources, as well as games, activities, sing-a-longs.
