Mission

The Charter School Incubator (Incubator) trains local educational entrepreneurs and community leaders to become successful charter school leaders. The Incubator produces highly-effective school leaders and assists them in developing and planning an innovative charter school, uniquely tailored to the students, parents and community it serves.

Vision

To bring educational choice to students, parents, and educators by attracting, training, and partnering with future charter school operators.

Action

Developed from proven best practices of charter school leader development programs as well as research-based strategies, the Charter School Incubator (Incubator) will provide intense training and development to local persons, enabling them to develop and run highly-effective charter schools throughout the state of Louisiana. The Incubator will partner and work with other education organizations for certain services in an attempt to pool our collective resources to provide the best training and development for our prospective school leaders.

There are two tracks for Incubator participants

Two-year track participants will complete an intense two-year charter school and school leader development program. bullet Summer (July 6 -11 and July 21 - 25) and winter institutes,
bullet Monthly professional development workshops,
bullet Site visits,
bullet Conferences,
bullet Internships (assuming funding)

Leadership development will be based on the Incubator’s Leadership Development Map and include:

bullet School mission, vision and culture,
bullet Student-centered teaching,
bullet Leadership,
bullet Staff development
bullet Governance,
bullet Operations,
bullet Board development,

One-year track participants will partner with an existing charter school operator that shares their vision and mission of a successful charter school. One-year track participants will be employed by the Incubator and the partnering charter school operator while they work towards opening their school. These Incubator participants complete an intense charter school and school leader development program. The program will enable Incubator participants to envision, advocate for, plan, open and sustain a highly-effective charter school, as well as forge local, regional and national partnerships to best serve their proposed schools.
