Professional Development Workshops
Every summer LRCE brings national trainers to Baton Rouge to teach Louisiana educators the latest innovative educational techniques, tools and skills that they incorporate in their classrooms. Since 1998, LRCE has provided training to more than 10,000 teachers in public, private, charter and parochial schools.
Louisiana currently has more than 4,000 uncertified teachers. LRCE is an approved private provider for state certification. College graduates and mid-career changers can work toward a teaching certificate while teaching in a school, earning full-time pay. Since 2003, LRCE has certified more than 1,000 PreK-12 teachers who are teaching in 43 parishes around the state of Louisiana.
LRCE manages a state-wide Charter School Incubator; a leadership development program for individuals who are interested in opening a new public charter school or taking over a failing public school. The Incubator has successfully placed two leaders in high performing charter schools and facilitated the development of three unique charter school models. In addition, LRCE has worked with business and industry internally incubating a charter high school focusing on career preparation, The Career Academy. The Career Academy was approved by the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board on May 20, 2010. LRCE will open the school's doors in August 2011.
