Since 1998, LRCE has provided training to more than 10,000 teachers in public, private, charter and parochial schools. Also, LRCE provides in-house Pre-K – 12 content specific and technology summer institutes.
Reform Solutions
The LRCE created the Charter School Incubator in an effort to attract and train educational entrepreneurs and community leaders to plan and operate charter schools throughout Louisiana. The department also is collaborating with numerous stakeholders to help develop a charter high school focused on workforce development and 21st century skills
Technology
LRCE offers E-Rate (Educational Rate) First Time Filers and Update Training to school technology coordinators and Vendor Training to companies that are interested in learning the procedures to become an E-Rate eligible vendor. Federal Funding through E-Rate helps schools and libraries build their technology infrastructure. Through E-Rate funding these entities are able to purchase select equipment at a discounted rate.
LRCE is one of
the pioneers in bringing distance education to Louisiana. We train
teachers and administrators on how to setup, operate and
troubleshoot videoconferencing equipment, as well as where to find
grade level appropriate virtual fieldtrips for students. Most
recently LRCE was granted a USDA grant for $122,015 to help rural
districts throughout the state acquire distance learning equipment
to be used for distance education.
