Being a part of LRCE and its TLC program for the past two years has helped me
fulfill a lifelong desire to teach. From the beginning, the administration and
staff have been, not only my coaches, but my cheerleaders, as well. Through
workshops and seminars, always led by highly qualified professionals and
educators, LRCE has given me many tools which I have needed as a new teacher.
The Professional Development Courses I attended this summer were on the "cutting
edge" of education. Because the information presented was so relevant, I will
begin my third year of teaching feeling more confident in my abilities to
understand my students and to inspire them to learn."

As Supervisor of Human Resources, LRCE has helped me tremendously with finding
“good” teachers for our district. They are hardworking, dedicated, and very
prepared for the challenges of the classroom. LRCE is always available to help
meet out needs. We enjoy working with the entire staff of LRCE. Thanks for all
you do!”

As Administrators in Assumption Parish, we have had very positive experiences
with our teachers that have gone through LRCE. Teachers are very well prepared
in the areas of curriculum and instruction and also discipline. Teachers are
very prepared and are dedicated educators. So any LRCE teachers, please come on
over to Assumption Parish. We welcome you.”

Education has changed so much in the past few years that I have been a teacher,
and I know it will continue to change. I feel that LRCE not only prepared me for
the current changes, but gave me what I needed as a teacher to continuously
adjust for the benefit of my students."

I was out of school for nearly 10 years when I decided to go back and become a
teacher. The thought of taking the dreaded Praxis II exam made me so nervous. I
quickly found out that there was great support at the LRCE. The prep workshop
for my test specifically geared my mindset to cover all the information that I
needed in a short amount of time. Thanks, LRCE!"

I love the LRCE. If I did not have this resource I don’t know what I would do.
By being able to borrow items, it has saved me money on classroom materials that
I would have had to otherwise spend out of pocket. The staff is always very
helpful and I always enjoy going there."

The books and materials I borrow from LRCE make my students’ eyes sparkle! LRCE
is where I find the things I want in my classroom, but cannot afford. I find
manipulatives, books, and videos to go with my units and for the grade level.
These activities help students really understand the concepts I teach."

LRCE’s Teach Louisiana Consortium has enabled me to make my dream of becoming a
teacher come true by means of intensive sessions and ongoing support that were
to keep me afloat during my first year of teaching. The workshop presenters
provided both practical and theoretical knowledge that directly applied to
teaching and prepared me to obtain my certification."

Taking the time to come and check out LRCE has been the best investment of time
I have made in quite a while. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and
welcoming. The multitudes of resources are invaluable."

LRCE has proven to be the impetus I needed to dedicate myself to do whatever it
might take to prepare to teach. I am finishing my first year as a practitioner
and am beginning my second year certified. Thanks to some of the professional
development workshops offered (I especially enjoyed Debbie Silver’s “Science is
a Verb” workshop last summer) my classroom experience was much more enjoyable
for me and my students. Now, I am getting my resources for summer school through
the LRCE library and can’t wait to help my summer school students think outside
of the box with some of the manipulatives and videos. I recommend the LRCE
alternative certification every time I get the chance."

   TLC
changed my life. The program appealed to me as a recent Public Relations
graduate of UL Lafayette. I planned to teach to gain experience in education.
The TLC program fit better than any other alternative certification program in
Louisiana. It was practically half the cost and time of Louisiana colleges and
universities and it proved to have all of the convenience, effectiveness, and
support of university programs. Thanks to TLC, I was placed at a supportive East
Baton Rouge elementary school, Highland Elementary, and plan to teach
indefinitely. I am honored and pleased to have participated in the LRCE’s Teach
Louisiana Consortium."

The resources available at the Louisiana Resource Center for Educators have been
an invaluable asset to me and my students. The books, manipulatives, videos,
science and math equipment have not only enhanced my lessons, they made it
possible for me to effectively implement much of the Louisiana Comprehensive
Curriculum.”
