Fight Summer Learning Loss
Reach For Success integrates top teaching talent from the Baton Rouge area with weekly field experiences to ensure students encounter a broad range of content knowledge in a short amount of time. Each class includes a Summer Program Instructor charged with leading instruction and multiple practitioner teachers to assist. Our trained Special Education teachers allow RFS to accommodate students with Mild to Moderate special needs.
Hands on Learning
Reach For Success focuses on hands-on learning across all grade levels ensuring that science and math come alive for students while providing rich opportunities to discover how concepts integrate across all content areas. Each week, students participate in field experience off-campus that highlights content learned in the classroom.
Training the Next Wave
Reach For Success also ensures that the next wave of teachers prepared through LRCE’s innovative Teach! alternative certification process are able to get a first-hand experience with the best-of-the-best teaching our students. Practitioner teachers, see, practice, and learn from the best while integrating that experience into their own future teaching.
For 2017, Reach For Success was located at Westdale Middle School. Westdale Middle School is a premier public school located in the heart of Baton Rouge on the corner of Jefferson Highway and Claycut Road. Under the leadership of Principal Jeremy Couvillion, Westdale continues to be one of Baton Rouge’s best open enrollment middle schools. Notes for Parents
- LRCE’s Reach For Success (RFS) begins June 3 at 8:00 a.m. with drop off starting at 7:45 a.m. Click here to see a carpool map. Note that RFS carpool only uses the large parking lot nearest the athletic fields of Westdale Middle. We’ll have signs and staff out there to help direct you the right way.
- Students registered after 5:00 p.m. June 1st will not be eligible for our bus routes. We’ve got to get them scheduled!
- Pre-K and Kindergarten parents, please send a change of clothes in a ziplock bag for your kids just in case.
- Dismissal is at 1:00 p.m. Note that checkouts are not allowed after 12:00 to ensure orderly dismissal.
